What is the trading faces project about ?
Trading faces is an exciting photographic project being undertaken by A2Zoom Photographic in conjunction with Hertfordshire radio station Jack FM.
A2Zoom Photographic are seeking to take creative images of many of the trades and professions undertaken by people who work in Hertfordshire.
Creating this project will result in a large public exhibition of up to 200 images. The style of the photograph will be what will really make this work. Photographs may be processed in colour or black and white/sepia but above all reflect the best character of the individual. We are asking you to use our site to tell us about your profession and also what tools/props you would bring with you to best reflect your trade. For example a baker may bring a tray of cakes or bread. A diver may wear their full wet suit and snorkel and air tanks. A builder may bring a hod carrying bricks. If you wear a uniform or utilise certain equipment for your trade we would ask you to bring this to your session.
Apart from the obvious, we are also seeking to capture the unusual and many of the unsung and less well known trades. Especially the occupations that have been passed down from generation to generation.
There will be no limitation on age. If you work full time, part time or a volunteer and you work in Hertfordshire you can apply. All people taking part will be asked to complete a consent form. For candidates under the age of 18 there will be a requirement for a parent or guardian to attend with them at the shoot.
Whilst the majority of portraits will be individual, depending on your business you may work as part of a team and this will be considered.
Sessions on average will take about 30 minutes with appointment times agreed on an individual basis. We will do everything we can to be flexible with appointment times and as such may cover weekdays, evenings and weekends.
ALL applications will be considered and whilst we can not guarantee all will be successful for those that we do invite to our studio's we will provide an image from the shoot free of charge.
Due to the extent of this project it is likely to take about 8 months to complete but we will keep you up to date with our progress and notify you of the exhibition date.
